It was a far off cry that made Mar finally snap back to reality to scan her immediate surroundings. She froze in her footsteps. She had been scavenging in the woods for timber, the wick of fire in her lantern flickering weakly; and she had only just realized the cry sounded distinctly human. Words fail with impending deadline.

I really shouldn't be procrastinating here, but the words are coming so easily for Dead End Edge whereas my essay is no where near complete. I can already hear the class bell ringing and the professor speaking with a harsh undertone, "One of you did not turn in your essay," and he turns to stare at me as I shrink into my seat. I pull down my shades and pretend he's looking past me. Maybe he is. I'm such a disappointment that he can't even see me anymore. Gosh that was a depressing daydream, I should stop. Hm.
